Our Ballet Master, Mohamed Noor Sarman, has been with the company since September 1988. His lead roles include those in Gemini Pas de Deux, Schumann's Impressions, Exits and Entrances, The Nutcracker, The Graduation Ball, Appassionato, Impromptu and as a principal dancer in Birds of Paradise by Goh Choo San. In December 1993, Mohamed Noor Sarman was awarded a French scholarship for a 3 month attachment at IFEDEM in Paris. In 1994, he choreographed his first classical piece, Serenade A Trois to critical acclaim in the SDT's October season. His second work, Living Greens which premiered in March 1996, was chosen to represent Singapore in the 8th ASEAN Dance Festival 1996 and taken on tour to The Philippines in August 1998, as well as Australia in 1999. He was the rehearsal assistant for the production of Coppelia. For his outstanding artistic achievement, Mohamed Noor Sarman was awarded the NAC Young Artist award in 1995. In June 1997, he was promoted to the post of Assistant Ballet Master in SDT. He also serves as advisor for dance with the National Arts Council.
